The Fantastic Workshop

Nov 13 - 18 2019   Nashville, TN

You will enjoy a four-day workshop where you will attend lectures, small group talks, get specific advice on building up your business, and try new art techniques and make art with our amazing instructors. We'll all be living, eating and working along side each other for the full four days, on an idyllic campus filled with gothic architecture, in the heart of Nashville.

The Fantastic Workshop focuses on the intersection between art and business. It's a opportunity to learn from a diverse group of independent artists about what actually works for a variety of different art business models in today's marketplace and how to make your own vision come to life.

Tuition

Deadline is September 21st

Tuition covers all instruction, lectures and demos along with full room and board. You'll have access to great meals and onsite housing throughout the event. A work area will be provided for all attendees, but you must bring your own materials and find your own transportation to and from the venue.

This cost is non-refundable. In the event of a serious last-minute emergency, we'll figure something out—we're not monsters. But if you need to drop out for any other reason, you must do your best to try and find someone who will buy your ticket.

All students must be at least 18 years or older.

There are 50 tickets available for sale that will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can buy them from our signup page.

Is there a portfolio review to get in?

The Fantastic Workshop 2017

Nope. It's first-come, first-serve. The hope is that the most driven students will strive to sign up before the tickets are gone. We want ambitious artists to join us in this event!

I'm a working professional. Is there content at this event that will be relevant to me?

Definitely. It will be a chance to learn new avenues of business or refine old ones. Much like a convention, it will be a chance to network and learn collaboratively.

I'm not very far along with my career. Is this class too advanced for me?

In our experience, there is never a time too early to start approaching the realities of business and art. You'll receive a crash course in painting, as well as get an opportunity to look behind the professional curtain to see what working artists are focusing on.

Are you going to provide the art materials?

Nope. That's all on you. All paints, surfaces, solvents, computers and anything else you need to make art are going to be provided by you. There are art stores in the downtown Nashville area to buy things you don't want to fly with, but it will be up to you to check on availability.

Can I record the lectures?

We're prioritizing the lecturer's ability to share sensitive materials over the ability to record them. We try to make any content that won't get our instructors in trouble available, but our main goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing; that way our instructors can talk openly about their best business practices, and we can offer real world numbers on things like profit and loss. For that reason we ask that their is no recording during most of the lectures.

How long is the workshop?

Attendees will arrive Wednesday night. Classes will begin on Thursday morning and go through Sunday. Dorm checkout is on Monday morning.

Can I arrange longer stay?

Yes! If you want to pay for it you can extend your stay at Scarritt Bennett Center. Contact sam@samflegal.com to make these arrangements.
